What is a CPS test?

A CPS test measures how many times you can click your mouse in a given number of seconds. CPS stands for clicks per second, and that number is your score. The faster you click, the higher it goes.

People use the click speed test for all kinds of reasons: training for Minecraft PvP, testing a new mouse, or just seeing how fast they actually are. The test runs in your browser, no download needed, and the whole thing takes about 5 seconds.

Hit the button to get started. The timer kicks in on your first click, so take a breath and get ready before you touch it. Once you start clicking, just keep going until the time is up and your score shows up on screen.

How is your CPS score calculated?

The formula is simple: number of clicks divided by number of seconds. If you click 45 times in 5 seconds, your CPS is 9.0. The counter tracks every click as it happens, so your result reflects exactly what you did during the test, nothing more and nothing less.

Which time interval should you choose?

Start with 5 seconds. It is the sweet spot between getting a fair average and not having to click long enough to tire your fingers out. Very short tests like 1 or 2 seconds can give you an unrealistically high score because you can go all-out for such a brief burst. Tests longer than 10 seconds tend to pull your score down as fatigue sets in.

Once you have a baseline with 5 seconds, try 10 seconds to see how your speed holds up over time. For reference, most people land somewhere between 6 and 9 CPS on a 5-second run. Getting above 10 consistently takes real practice.

How to click faster: some practical tips

The biggest thing holding most people back is tension. If your hand is stiff or you are pressing too hard, you are wasting energy on every click. Keep your wrist loose, position your finger just above the button, and focus on quick light taps. A lot of players improve just by relaxing their grip. Two-finger clicking, where you alternate between your index and middle finger, is worth trying once you get the basics down.

Your mouse makes a bigger difference than you might think. Gaming mice are built with lighter click mechanisms, so they respond faster and with less effort. If you are clicking on a laptop touchpad, your scores will almost always be lower just because of how touchpads work. Whatever mouse you use, make sure the drivers are current and the sensitivity is set to something comfortable for you.

One more thing worth mentioning: run the test in Chrome or Firefox and make sure nothing heavy is running in the background. It sounds minor but on older machines it can actually affect click registration.

Why gamers use a CPS counter

If you play Minecraft PvP, especially on 1.8 servers, click speed matters a lot. More clicks per second means more hits landed in a fight, which gives you a real edge. The same logic applies in other fast-paced games where quick inputs translate to better performance. A lot of players use the CPS tester to warm up before a session or to track whether their clicking has actually improved over time.

Challenge your friends

Half the fun is comparing scores. Share your result and see if your friends can beat it. Try different time intervals to find out who has more raw speed versus who holds up better over 10 or 30 seconds. There is always something to compete on, whether you are new to click testing or you have been grinding it for months.

What else does the site offer?

Your scores are saved in your browser history automatically. You can look back and see how you have progressed, which time settings you used, and what your best results have been. It is a simple way to keep track without having to write anything down.

The test works on desktop, tablet and mobile. You can switch between light and dark mode, pick your preferred timer, and use it as many times as you like. Everything is free with no account required.
